The bridge and highway system of the western Sierra Madre

This is a picture taken from the Autopista Durango-Mazatlan of the mountains as seen about an hour into the Mexican State of Sinaloa. The focus of the picture is the tunnels and bridge that were constructed as part of a 2 billion dollar project to make travel through this part of the country more manageable. This project was a huge feat of engineering as one can see from the picture the grand scale of the mountains and terrain that had to be dealt with.
