We get 8 bank holidays every year and of these 8 we dream of the sun shining. What actually happens far more often than not is a total washout, no beach days, no bbqs, no beer gardens, just rain. However this year during August bank holiday we were blessed with actual sunshine and heat! So what did we all do? We ran to coastal towns and fought for space on the beaches and in the sea. It was brilliant. I believe nothing sums up the hopeful British mind more than these beach scenes. I wanted to try capture that feeling of the bank holiday dream we all have alongside the reality of everyone rushing to the beach, queuing in the traffic and fighting for space...knowing we'd all do it again should we be blessed with another sunny bank holiday. Inspired by a painting named 'The Beach Bevy' - Danny Galieote.
