The Carcal

The Caracal (Felis caracal) is a muscular slender cat. The name Caracal is derived from a Turkish word “karakulak” meaning “black ear. It is a powerful predator, distinguished by its reddish-brown coat, short tail and lynx-like tufted ears. Long back legs propel a prodigious leap, enabling it to capture birds in flight. Their movements are really unpredictable. I was actually out on a lookout for other wild animals at dawn, that is when I suddenly noticed this Caracal and without giving a second thought took my camera and clicked a few shots before it disappeared in the darkness. I was really lucky to get this beauty at dawn. The bright yet soft shade of orange sunset gave it a look unparalleled. Its long tufted ears stood upright facing the sky while its whole body was dipped in the orange hue revealing all its features very evidently.
