19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
"The Conductor," a Roseate Spoonbill spreads its wings fully prior to landing.

The shots of large birds with wings fully spread just before they land always reminds me of a conductor before his orchestra. It took me several days and many sessions observing this bird to capture this pose that I wanted of this spectacular bird.
