I am a recent graduate of Hampton University, an HBCU (Historically Black College and University). I directed a short visual that focuses on black excellence, education and the black experience. I selected this group of boys to be apart of the piece because they are also students at HU, who are very creative individuals. I wanted to capture them in the most natural location, they picked their outfits and met each other at this shoot. This was a way to capture black men in a way that they aren't normally shown. With minimal expression on their faces, arranged in a unique position, these boys are the cool kids.
