The devotees were carrying the idol of Lord Jagannath [ a Hindu God] to the temple from where lord Jagannath came to his bathing place, in the eve of bathing festival before the Ratha Yatra festival[ Chariot festival] of Hindus.before that a comparatively small festival was held called bathing festival of Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Lady Suvadra.
