The disappearing town
A person in a red winter jacket walking along the street in the old town of Kiruna, Sweden. Kiruna is home to one of the world's largest iron ore mines, which has led to a unique situation. Due to the mine expanding, the entire town of approximately 6000 is moving two miles east. While we were aware of this, we didn't know how much of the town had already moved before arriving in the old - now somewhat abandoned - city center. This photo was taken as we walked along the old districts to look for a bus stop.
