15th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
The diver: a tree branch, over Forest Hill Park Lake.
This is one of my obsessive subjects: I've photographed this branch maybe a dozen times since the spring of 2017. I love the way this small branch, seen at just the right angle (I'm betting I'm the only person who has ever noticed it) resembles a diver poised over the lake.
