The Eiffel Tower at night from below
On the face level, this is a photo of one of the world's most famous landmarks, the Eiffel tower, from the base of the tower. The lights used to illuminate it give it a sense of grandeur, leaving little doubt that it's more than up to the task of representing its beautiful city. What I like about this shot, though, is that while it shows the looming, glittering structure of the tower, it also shows the thin, wire-like pieces of metal that hold the whole thing together. The tower may seem to hold its own, but without the love and care of the people of Paris, the thin bars holding it together might never have stood up to wear.
