The Elegant Mantises

Statilia maculata, common name Asian jumping mantis, it is a species of mantis native to Asia mainly, however it can be found in China and Japan and Korea and Sri Lanka as well. Both of these cuties performed a bluffing threat display, rearing back with the forelegs and fanning wings when I attempted to approach them nearer. The bluffing threat display with the fanning of the wings makes the mantis seem larger and more threatening against the predators.
