The Eye of Faith

A staunch devotee with several metal piercings through his mouth during a Hindu festival of Gajan or Charak, which is celebrated mainly in the last two days of the month of Chaitra (around mid April) in rural Bengal to appease Lord Shiva. The festival is associated with devotees painting their bodies, playing with fire, undergoing body piercings etc. to signify a form of penance. The followers have to master their fears before they even think of undergoing such an extreme ritual
