The Family Tree

Sometimes the most enjoyable scenery is so close to home that you rarely notice as you scurry from one place to the next. On one of those rare Sundays that we could relax and take an excursion down the Mississippi River outside of St. Paul, Minnesota, an unusual group of tree roots caught my eye. It had probably been there for decades without anyone giving it much thought but it almost was begging to be noticed with roots overflowing toward the river. Beauty, it is said, is in the eye of the beholder and to me the roots are an extension of a long life with many more years to come.
