The first waves of a winter swell hitting Santa Cruz.

It was nearing sunset along the Santa Cruz coastline when I climbed down to the remote beach that had formed against the wave-hollowed sea cliffs. The salty, February winds that had chilled my face and hands during my hike along the exposed coast abated as I entered the sheltered cove. There was something about the way the turbulent waves juxtaposed with the golden light that filtered over the cliff's edge that put my restless heart at peace.
