The Friendship Bell was presented as a gift from the people of the Republic of Korea to the people of the United States of America to celebrate the bicentennial of the United States and symbolize the friendship between the two nations. It was dedicated on October 3, 1976. It is located in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.
