I shot this image on my first visit to Bandhavgarh national park, India. Bandhavgarh island of my tiger stories we planned this trip in advance, we started from Delhi on 12th of June but on previous day, 11th June, it rained heavily in Bandhavgarh nation park due to cyclone in the Arabian Sea and weather has changed drastically a dour trained was delayed for almost 10 hours, normally it wouldn’t rain in the month of June in Madhya Pradesh. One of our guides told us that the wildlife is disturbed in the jungle and may not be able to spot any tiger in this condition. Bandhavgarh is a very beautiful place and it has a variety of landscapes. It has very tall trees, variety of wildlife, water bodies, hills, plains, riverine, etc. I had few ideas in my mind about to frame a tiger in the background of a different set. I specifically came to Bandhavgarh capture tiger and in the landscape in one frame, with tall Sal trees in the background and tiger in the foreground, which I call “tiger in big landscape “. On the first day we had, we were fortunate and we spotted “Dotty” with her 3 male cubs and got few closeup shots. In the afternoon safari, we were told that the Dotty and her cubs with may venture near a water pond. So we decided to wait there. Meanwhile while waiting there, checking every possible good frame I can get if the tiger would be there, a specifically tall ridge with tall sal tree in the background. After an hour of waiting Dotty’s cub come there sat in the pond and drank water moved towards the ridge and sat on the ridge, exactly where I wanted.but weather turned rainy and light condition became too dull to get clear shot. I tried to a different setting to get a good frame. I don’t generally prefer increasing iso, due to noise. So I decide to keep iso 800 and change shutter according to varying lighting condition and I took this shot at 160/1 second with iso 800 to freeze the frame and keep noise level low. This is the final frame I got.
