The Giant
The Aldabran giant tortoise is endemic to the Seychelles archipelago. These impressive reptiles were once found on many of the Seychelles islands before being hunted close to extinction. In the 1970s and 1980s, tortoises were transported from their last remaining stronghold on Aldabra atoll to some of the inner islands as part of a conservation programme aimed at saving the species.
