I was volunteering in a Mega Mission for Operation Smile where 100 kids were going to get free cleft lip and palate surgery. This picture was taken during a visit to the shelter for patients who have traveled long distances and from remote villages and towns to get to the mission site and hospital. The look on these patients faces as a team gave away plastic balls for them to play was priceless. Some welcomed the team with excitement, others were nervous and some too shy. What they all had in common is they treasured the gift and didn't want to let go.
