We were practicing archery on the farm one early evening and the newly exploring barn kittens, who follow us around at that stage like we are the lights shining into the previously dark corners of the growing world, thought the hay bale target and flying arrows were fascinating. My daughter, age 7, being one of the most loving caretakers I have ever known, played the part of mama cat to move and somewhat scold the young cat about the dangers of the world of humans.
