The GiveAway

Giveaways are common traditions throughout Native American Tribes. They are used to honor or pay respect to family and other tribal and non tribal members. Over the years they have become demanding for things out of peoples means and become a way for some to profit taking away the true meaning of this long standing tradition. In this photograph Short Nose, Cheyenne Bow String Society is surrounded by gifts but holding on to his traditional items such as his pipe tight not losing his traditional items. We are taught not to lose these things we earn. Its hard to keep focused sometimes when we are diluted by material things.
