The guardian of the paramo
Perching on its frailejones, under the rain and the mist of the páramo at 4300 meters above sea level. This hummingbird, the oxypogon stuebelii (barbudito or chivito de páramo) is only found in one place in the whole world and that place is in Colombia: the páramos of the Los Nevados National Natural Park. Photograph taken in the páramo area that leads to the next white peak to disappear in Colombia due to climate change, Nevado Santa Isabel.
