The Guianan cock-of-the-rock's mesmerizing colors
One of the jewels of the Amazon Rainforest, the rarely seen Guianan cock-of-the-rock (Rupicola rupicola) is a breathtaking sight amidst the dense jungle vegetation. In this photo, a male was just about to begin its mating display for nearby females, where it would jump around on the ground and flap its wings. The bright orange plumage provides a stark contrast to its surroundings.
