The Guru and the Disciple

Majuli- the largest riverine island in the world, on the river Brahmaputra in Assam, is the home of over twenty Vaishnav satras or hermitage of the Vaishnava community. Monks belonging to all age groups stay here. Apart from worship, they make various indigenous handicrafts to earn their livelihood. However, due to riverine erosion, Majuli as also its satras are facing serious threats of existence.
