The hands that create

Hardcore hands on combat between man and material, day in and day out but nothing can take away that bright smile that spreads contagiously. The mud-touched hands here are creating the base body of the beautiful idol of Maa Durga, a Goddess. The man creating them is an artisan from the artisanal hub of Kumartuli where they hand craft the idols for the festival of Durga Puja. The hands are full of power and magic, moulding river clay with strength and precision, but despite the sweat and efforts being put into the process, the smile of the artisan never fades. The other idol of the Goddess watches over the artisan, blessing him and sheltering him from any negativity and pain. He knows that the Goddess will protect him at all costs and smiles while acknowledging her presence. He is devoted to what he is creating and ensured that the hand stays upright, always blessing him.
