13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
The Hawaiian God

Rivers of lava pouring into the ocean at night and a birth of a new land was created instantly. This photo was taken from a handheld with high ISO because of the unstable boat and ruff ocean conditions for a stable tripod. It was a special moment I will never forget.
