13th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
The Heron and The Crane
There are no flying cranes in Singapore. But inanimate ones? There's plenty. Living in a garden city like Singapore, it is common to have man-made objects in photographs of wildlife - and that is exactly what is done here. The Great-Billed Heron - one of Singapore's largest birds - is so much smaller compared to the crane. It shows how powerful human influence can be - and with our power, we are able to protect the Natural World. We just need to be willing to.
