The Hole

This is an image I took while visiting a little-known neighborhood in New York City known as The Hole. This neighborhood gets its name from being below local street-level, and its primary characteristics are its flooded streets and many abandoned houses and lots. This picture in particular shows a patch that reportedly had been used as a mafia dumping ground in the late 70s -- largely due to the isolation of the region.
