The Hong Kong cityscape creates the tension between nature and progress - a constant battle that will shape our future.
As major cities in this world continue to expand or just merely strive to maintain its wealth, nature is often the victim. Perhaps a great example between inserting a highly-dense urban center into nature is Hong Kong. With very limited area to build on, the country is pressured to find areas to build on. To maintain its forest cover that will ultimately help its air quality issues, they are pushing for reclamation. The channel between Kowloon and Hong Kong island is narrowing. This contrast between the green of the protected areas and the sky high buildings shows the precarious balance between economic development and nature conservation.
