The Iconic Eiffel Iron Church of Santa Rosalia Baja Mexico
The iconic prefabricated galvanized iron church of Santa Rosalia was designed by Alexander Eiffel to withstand harsh topical environments. This is the same Eiffel who designed the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris. It won a first place at the Paris World Exposition in 1869 and was placed in storage until purchased and shipped to Santa Rosalia. It was reassembled in 1897 and named Iglesia de Santa Barbara. As one can tell by the photograph, the iron church does periodically bleed through a bit of rust through requiring some care and repainting. However, the required maintenance is modest as compared with what would be required with a wooden structure. An iconic structure with an interesting background!
