14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
The intensity in the eyes of a domestic cat.

This photograph expresses the attention that domestic cats can give their owners and fellow cats. The common misconception is that cats are unimpressed creatures who don't respond to their names or care for any thing, "jerks" as many tend to describe them. Her name is Nala Rey and she can tell you a lot about the way she looks at you and "talks" back when her name is called ; anything from wanting to show you affection and in return receive affection to when it's time for dinner. Cats are indeed as attentive and loving as dogs are.
