The Islander
In the vast bosom of the mighty Brahmaputra river lies a tiny island - Umananda or the Peacock Island. It's an inhabited island that also enjoys the status of the smallest river island in the world. Two priests stay on this island along with half a dozen Golden Langurs, a species that is usually spotted in the foothills of the Himalayas. A creature with a regal bearing, the present Golden Langurs on the island are descendants of a single pair that somebody left on the island.
