12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
The Jesuit

Feast of the Hunter's Moon takes place at Fort Ouiatenon, IN one weekend every fall. It transports participants back in time to the age of American colonization and the French fur trade. Reenactors demonstrate various trades and traditions of the time period including fabric dying, smithing, and the day-to-day lives of voyageurs in the fur trade. "Father Michael" is helping the voyageurs paddle downriver to the fort in order for them to unload the products of their latest journey.
