Gusungan is an island with total land area approximately 6.05 hectares with white sandy beaches surrounding it. This island is unique as most parts of it are flat sandy grounds and with undulating land not exceeding 2 meters of sand slopes above sea level are sparingly spread around this beautiful island. It is coined as a sea desert as there are no hills and viewed as a gem of Borneo. Gusungan is nestled in the Sulawesi Sea and is administered by Semporna, Tawau district of Sabah. It is an awesome sight for any marina lovers as the sea water is crystal clear and ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving and island hoppers. The inhabitants are the Bajau sea community and their livelihood is centered in fishing.
