14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
The Kings Highway, Maui Hawaii
Photographer Daniel Sullivan endured a blistering 220-mile hike to document Hawaii's ancient King's Highway, a landmark withering away with time. Carrying with him a small solar panel, a camera and lots of water he camped along the coast of Maui for ten days.
