23rd Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Travel
The life of Mro family.

After a long and exhausting journey through the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh, we were on our way back when my colleague pointed out a small cottage nestled among the hills. We met them and find out despite having their hard life they are leading easy and happy life. Their attire, traditions, and way of life were profoundly distinct and deeply beautiful. Standing there, I was reminded once again that the true beauty of our world lies in its diversity. Yet, Indigenous cultures like theirs are increasingly under threat. If we do not act now to preserve them, we risk losing these vibrant heritages — and our world may one day fade into shades of black and white.
