The lonely Cypress

We were travelling from Los Angeles to San Francisco, most of which was dry and arid. A stretch of land, the Thousand Miles, was akin to an oasis, much described in the desert fables of Central Asia. Here stands the lonely Cypress, waving its head in the wind, showing a beacon of hope to the lonely traveler.
