My stepdaughter had finished the Diamond Head State Monument hike and decided to climb a tree while her father and brother took a much needed break. I remember looking over at her while she sat and realized she was staring off in the distance like she was a million miles away and thought that this was quite the troubblesome expression for a 6 year old. After talking to her I found out that she was thinking of her mother and missing her terribly. I told her that if she was really still I would take a picture of her and send it to her mother as soon as we got home. The emotion and love captured in this moment has made this one of my favorite pictures.
