In July, 2015 I shot this photo of two members of the Syriac Military Council - MFS in Hasakah, Syria. MFS fights with the Kurds against ISIS. The men are trying to spot ISIS militants positioned about 500 meters away. The man on the left; his face, his hands, his gaze, perfectly represent his role as mentor to the young and relatively inexperienced fighters.
