The millennium-old wooden tower
I photographed at Yingxian County in Shanxi. The wooden pagoda was built in about 1056 C.E. It is on a four-meter-high groundwork with a total height of 67.31 meters, and a diameter of 30.27 meters at its bottom. It is the oldest surviving wooden tower in the world.
