The model organism for flower formation

Native of Africa, Gerbera daisy is one of the most popular ornamental flowers cultivated worldwide. To the lay eye, the capitulum has the visage of a solitary flower but it consists of numerous florets. The central core comprises of disc florets, followed by intermediate trans florets, ending with the periphereal ray florets. As a scientist, it truly fascinates me that such is the diversity of life in all its varied forms
