The Nano in Flight — Tropidomantis tenera
This photograph captures the breathtaking moment a Tropidomantis tenera — often called the Nano Mantis or Green Glass Mantis — takes flight. Its translucent wings shimmer like green-tinted glass, frozen mid-motion by the pulse of speedlights. Against the dark background, the mantis appears suspended between movement and stillness — fragile, weightless, almost unreal. The image reveals both the agility and elegance of one of the world’s smallest mantises, its delicate form glowing in the brief instant of light. What’s usually invisible to the naked eye — the rhythm of wings and the subtle body twist — is here transformed into a moment of sculptural grace.
