19th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Natural World
The Nyala
I went to South Africa for the first time in 2021 where I also had my first ever safari experience that couldn't have been more perfect. I spotted the Big 5 within a day and was blessed with many wildlife encounters, one of which happened to be this singled out male nyala by a waterhole on an overcast day that was very wary of its surroundings and was quite restless getting its water intake for the day.
