I encountered this spined micrathena on the side of a tree on an early morning macro outing this summer. While trying to set up for photos it moved down the tree and eventually paused in this position. I was able to place my lens under the spider looking up, which is why the abdomen looks so high in the air, because it's actually being pulled down by gravity.
