I photographed Beijing, China at sunset from behind glass in my hotel room. The capacity to acquire luxury goods like cars has been sudden, historically speaking, and the air pollution in Beijing is so bad that you need to photograph such scenes from indoors. The tap water is not drinkable and new buildings go up daily. The photo is about the environmental tipping point brought closer by modernization.
