12th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
The Prodigious Wave
The spring time in Big Sur can yield some of the most epic vistas of the year. This mountainside of Lupine was about 1500 feet above the ocean. I choose this particular spot because I felt the 'wave' appearance really gave this image more drama and impact. In the distance an ominous fog bank gives a darker contrast to the vibrant Lupines.
