14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest Altered Images
The Red Hills - Early Snowfall
Walking the shoreline of Fire Island National Seashore on Long Island I was looking for some abstract images. I found just what I was hoping for at the breach formed in 2012 by Superstorm Sandy. The blowing sands and sediment rich sand at low tide created mini landscapes within the eroding slopes. I immediately imagined Japanese silk paintings and shot several dozen images.
