The Redemption of an Olive Ridley Turtle

This photograph was taken when volunteering with a local Ngo, in Chennai, Southern India, called the Tree Foundation who are predominantly involved with, rescuing Olive Ridley eggs, wounded individuals owing to illegal fishing methods and then releasing them back into the wild. On this particular day when I was volunteering for them, they released three turtles, back to the ocean. After pushing out of the shore for 3 kilometres, this event took place. It was then , that one of the three released turtles, surfaced up again, came near our boats and looked at us, as if to say, thanks. And then slowly disappeared underneath the ocean. A truly timeless moment which shall forever remain immortal.
