The day in August 2025 that I left Montreal with my family, headed for Cap Breton, Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotian government announced a complete ban on any walks through nature due to the extreme risk of wildfires. Although a necessary restriction, hit broke my heart to know that we wouldn't be able to hike the famous Skyline Trail in Cape Breton. Despite this setback, we were still able to drive the length of the Cabot trail, with view after view seemingly more beautiful than the last.
