16th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest The American Experience
The Roochute

Bonnaroo Music Festival is a magical place where good vibes and good people collide. The Farm is a place where you lose your wallet and it will be returned with the cash still inside. Where random strangers offer hospitality to those they have just met. Where people from all ages, races, genders, and peoples unite in the love of music and community. The Roochute is a parachute that has been traveling to different venues and festivals. In order to create the space defined by the chute, all the participants partake in the process of capturing the air inside. The process of defining this space becomes a bonding experience which creates a micro community of people. This simple action becomes a microcosm representative of what we need more in society. More gathering of community, less separation. More love, less hate. More acceptance, less denial. More glitter too... but I think my friend has most of it.
