The Rwenzori Resident
Chameleons are incredible specialists, often found at specific elevations in very localized ranges. This strange horn chameleon (Kinyongia xenorhina) is no exception and is only found around and in the Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This male and its mate were found after trekking about an hour in the Rwenzori mountains. They're easy to photograph, incredibly challenging to photograph well. They're camera shy, literally leaning away from the lens and easily stressed. Care must be taken to minimize handling and photos and they must be returned to the tree they were found in. While in-situ photos are always preferred, it's not always possible.
