The Sea and the Land
An expedition to Churchill, Manitoba in northern Canada introduced me to an expected world of dramatic shapes and colours as I flew over the tundra. Often only a black line of seaweed demarcates the difference between the land and Hudson Bay. The affect creates an image as abstract as a cloud but as colourful as a pumpkin. Since it is impossible to build roads on this soft, spongy ground, it is accessible only by gigantic, specially built vehicles or by air.
